Overview
SI GC 202 (designation per EN 60893; corresponds to Hgw 2572 per DIN 7735 and is also traded in the US as HGW 2572-F2) is a glass-fabric-reinforced silicone-resin laminate and the high-temperature specialty material among the glass-fabric laminates in Liedtke's range. Glass-fabric layers are impregnated with silicone resin and pressed under heat and pressure into sheets or round bars.
Compared with epoxy-resin glass laminate (Hgw 2372.1, limiting temperature around 130 °C) and cotton-fabric laminate (Hgw 2081-2088, 110-120 °C), SI GC 202 achieves a continuous-use temperature of up to 180 °C thanks to its silicone-resin matrix - combined with very high tracking resistance (CTI 600). As a trade-off, the basic mechanical values (DIN 7735 minimums) are somewhat lower than those of Hgw 2372.1.
Typical values are a flexural strength around 240 MPa, a tensile strength around 164 MPa and a compressive strength around 120 MPa, with a modulus of elasticity around 19,000 MPa and a density of about 1.7 g/cm³. The colour is characteristically white.
Typical applications include slot insulation in electric motors and generators with high operating temperatures, insulating parts in transformer and coil construction, components in heating and thermal engineering, and high-temperature insulating parts in aerospace and rail technology - wherever high temperature resistance and tracking resistance are required together.

Frequently Asked Questions about SI GC 202
1What is SI GC 202?+
SI GC 202 (per EN 60893, corresponding to Hgw 2572 per DIN 7735) is a glass-fabric-reinforced silicone-resin laminate with very high continuous-use temperature resistance (180 °C) and very high tracking resistance (CTI 600). It is technically identical to HGW 2572, also offered by Liedtke, and its US-market designation HGW 2572-F2 - the EN 60893 standard simply uses "SI GC 202" instead of the DIN designation "Hgw 2572".
2How does Liedtke machine SI GC 202?+
We saw, mill, drill and turn SI GC 202 with sharp, carbide-tipped or diamond-coated tools into dimensionally accurate precision parts. We ensure adequate dust extraction during machining, as resin and glass fibre dust is generated.
3What determines the price of an SI GC 202 part?+
The component price is determined mainly by sheet thickness, dimensions, material utilisation (offcuts), machining effort and batch size. SI GC 202 is the premium material among the glass-fabric laminates in Liedtke's range due to the more expensive silicone resin. We are happy to provide binding prices on request based on your drawing.
4When is SI GC 202 not the right choice?+
SI GC 202 is not declared for direct food contact. Without a particular temperature requirement, an epoxy or cotton-fabric laminate is more economical, and for applications requiring very high mechanical strength, HGW 2372.1 is superior.
