Machining PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8)

PF CP 206 is the EN 60893 designation for the punchable phenolic paper laminate Hp 2062.8 per DIN 7735 – the more mechanically robust of the two pure punching grades in the phenolic paper laminate series.

Material

Overview

PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) belongs to the phenolic paper laminate family per DIN 7735 / EN 60893: thermoset laminates made from several layers of cellulose paper, impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde resin and pressed under heat and pressure into a solid, homogeneous sheet. As NEMA type XXXP, PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is specifically designed for punching at room temperature: the resin system and paper impregnation allow clean punching without edge cracking.

PF CP 206 is the designation under EN 60893, while Hp 2062.8 is the designation under the older DIN 7735 – both refer to technically the same material. Because both standard designations remain common in the market, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik lists this material under both names as separate pages. Our existing page for Hp 2062.8 and this page for PF CP 206 therefore describe the same product.

Within the PF-CP family there are two pure punching grades: PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) and PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8). Both are designed for punching at room temperature, but differ noticeably in mechanical properties: PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) shows noticeably higher mechanical values, with a compressive strength of 120 MPa (parallel to laminations) and a documented impact strength of 8 kJ/m², than PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) – however, PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is not flame retardant.

At Liedtke, PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is machined and punched to customer specification – sawn, milled, drilled and punched with carbide-tipped and sharp tools, with good dust extraction. Typical applications include punched insulating parts subject to higher mechanical loading in service, components in electrical and switchgear engineering, and insulating parts in mechanical engineering with medium to higher mechanical loading.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions about PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8)

1What is PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8)?+

PF CP 206 is the EN 60893 designation for the phenolic paper laminate known under the older DIN 7735 standard as Hp 2062.8 – technically the same material. As NEMA type XXXP, it is the mechanically more robust of the two pure punching grades in the phenolic paper laminate family, designed for clean cold punching without edge cracking.

2How does Liedtke machine PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8)?+

Liedtke Kunststofftechnik manufactures precision-cut, punched and formed parts from PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) sheets to customer drawing – sawn, milled, drilled or punched. Our quality management system, certified to DIN EN ISO 9001, ensures consistent production quality.

3What determines the price of a PF CP 206 part?+

PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) sits in the mid-range of the phenolic paper laminate family price-wise – somewhat above the simple standard grade PF CP 201 (Hp 2061), but well below specialty and high-performance laminates. Exact prices depend on sheet thickness, dimensions and order quantity; we are happy to provide an individual quotation.

4When is PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) not the right choice?+

PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is not declared suitable for direct food contact. Where flame retardancy is required, PF CP 204 (Hp 2063) is the right choice, and for very high electrical loading, the electrically improved grade PF CP 202 (Hp 2061.5). For the simplest applications without particular mechanical requirements, the more economical standard grade PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) is usually sufficient.
