Overview
PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) consists of cellulose-paper-reinforced, flame-retardant phenolic resin. Paper webs are impregnated with the resin and pressed under heat and pressure into sheets, rods or tubes. The cured thermoset no longer melts but remains dimensionally stable, hard and mechanically resilient; the colour is typically brown.
PF CP 205 is the designation under EN 60893, while Hp 2062.9 is the designation under the older DIN 7735 – both refer to technically the same material. Because both standard designations remain common in the market, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik lists this material under both names as separate pages. Our existing page for Hp 2062.9 and this page for PF CP 205 therefore describe the same product.
Within the phenolic paper laminate family per DIN 7735 / EN 60893, PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) and PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) are the economical punching grades for stamped parts without high mechanical requirements. Within this punching pair, PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) takes on the flame-retardant role: a cold-punchable special grade rated UL 94 V-0, while PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is the comparable punching grade without flame retardancy but with higher mechanical robustness.
PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) machines and punches well – sawing, milling, drilling, turning and cold punching can be carried out cleanly and accurately with sharp, carbide-tipped tools, with adequate dust extraction. Typical applications include cold-punched series parts with a flame-retardancy requirement, insulating and partition parts in electrical and switchgear engineering, and economical punched parts for the electrical industry.

Frequently Asked Questions about PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9)
1What is PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9)?+
PF CP 205 is the EN 60893 designation for the phenolic paper laminate known under the older DIN 7735 standard as Hp 2062.9 – technically the same material. It is the flame-retardant, cold-punchable special grade (UL 94 V-0) within the phenolic paper laminate series, combining the advantages of a punching grade with flame retardancy.
2How does Liedtke machine PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9)?+
PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) machines and punches well: sawing, milling, drilling, turning and cold punching can be carried out cleanly and accurately with sharp, carbide-tipped tools. We ensure adequate dust extraction during machining.
3What determines the price of a PF CP 205 part?+
Due to its flame retardancy, PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) is typically priced somewhat above the non-flame-retardant punching grade PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8). Component price is additionally determined by sheet thickness, dimensions, material utilisation, machining effort and batch size – we are happy to provide binding prices based on your drawing.
4When is PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) not the right choice?+
PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) is not declared suitable for direct food contact. For high mechanical strength requirements, PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) is the better choice, and for higher dielectric strength, PF CP 202 (Hp 2061.5). Without a flame-retardancy requirement, the mechanically more robust punching grade PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) is usually the more economical alternative.
