Overview
PF CC 203 is the EN 60893 type designation for the same product traditionally listed in Germany under the DIN 7735 designation Hgw 2083. Both names denote exactly the same material - a thermoset laminate made of fine cotton fabric impregnated with phenolic resin and pressed under heat and pressure into sheets, round bars or tubes. EN 60893 is the international standard series, DIN 7735 the older, purely German standard for the same laminate types; because drawings and specifications use either designation depending on their origin and age, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik deliberately lists this material under both names as complete, standalone pages.
Within the cotton-fabric laminate family per DIN 7735 / EN 60893, PF CC 203 (Hgw 2083) is the upgraded grade compared with the standard type Hgw 2082: a finer cotton fabric noticeably increases flexural strength, tensile strength and impact strength and produces a smoother, more even surface - with almost unchanged basic electrical and thermal properties. This distinction from Hgw 2082 concerns a different product variant and does not change the fact that PF CC 203 and Hgw 2083 themselves are one and the same product.
PF CC 203 (Hgw 2083) is one of the most widely used laminate grades in Liedtke's range: dimensionally stable, hard, easy to machine and offering solid tracking resistance (CTI 100-160) with good insulation properties. Produced from phenolic-resin-impregnated fine-fabric layers, we machine precision parts from it - sawing, milling, drilling and turning produce clean, dimensionally accurate results with sharp, carbide-tipped tools.
Typical applications include precision mechanical components with tight tolerances, gears, cams and sliding elements under increased load, and insulating and partition panels in low-voltage switchgear technology. For applications requiring higher tracking resistance (CTI > 200), glass-fabric-reinforced or melamine-resin-bonded grades such as Hgw 2372.1 or MF GC 201 (Hgw 2272) are the more suitable choice.

Frequently Asked Questions about PF CC 203
1What is PF CC 203?+
PF CC 203 is the EN 60893 designation for a fabric laminate made of fine cotton fabric impregnated with phenolic resin. It is exactly the same material that the older German standard DIN 7735 designates as Hgw 2083 - both names refer to one and the same material, differing only in the underlying standard. Liedtke Kunststofftechnik deliberately lists the material under both designations as standalone pages, so it can be found regardless of which standard your drawing references.
2How does Liedtke machine PF CC 203?+
PF CC 203 machines well. Sawing, milling, drilling and turning produce clean, dimensionally accurate results with sharp, carbide-tipped tools, with the fine fabric structure giving a particularly smooth surface. During machining we ensure adequate dust extraction. This is how we reliably manufacture mechanically robust precision parts - from single pieces to series production.
3What determines the price of a PF CC 203 part?+
The price of a part made from PF CC 203 (Hgw 2083) depends mainly on sheet thickness or bar diameter, dimensions, material utilisation, machining effort and batch size. Because the finer fabric requires more material effort, PF CC 203 is priced slightly above the standard grade Hgw 2082. We are happy to provide binding prices on request based on your drawing.
4When is PF CC 203 not the right choice?+
PF CC 203 is not declared for direct food contact. For medium-voltage applications with high tracking-resistance requirements (CTI > 200), glass-fabric-reinforced or melamine-resin-bonded grades are better suited, and the material is also not designed for continuous use above about 110 °C or in very humid environments. For pure cost optimisation without increased strength or surface requirements, the more economical standard grade Hgw 2082 is sufficient.
