What is PEEK GLD140 FG blue?
PEEK GLD140 FG blue is a lubricant-modified polyetheretherketone in a food grade compound. An internally embedded solid lubricant significantly reduces the coefficient of friction and wear, and the blue colouring makes components optically detectable in food production – for dry-running sliding and guide elements at temperatures up to 250 °C.

PEEK GLD140 FG blue in detail
1What is PEEK GLD140 FG blue?+
PEEK GLD140 FG blue is a lubricant-modified polyetheretherketone in a food grade compound. An internally embedded solid lubricant significantly reduces the coefficient of friction and wear, and the blue colouring makes components optically detectable in food production – for dry-running sliding and guide elements at temperatures up to 250 °C. The sliding modification reduces friction and stick-slip effects and considerably improves wear behaviour compared to unfilled PEEK, without compromising resistance to temperature, chemicals and hydrolysis. The modification slightly reduces stiffness, strength and elongation at break compared to standard PEEK; the compound is designed for food contact (see FDA declaration).
2How does Liedtke machine PEEK GLD140 FG blue?+
PEEK GLD140 FG blue can be machined using all conventional cutting methods; because of the high hardness, carbide tools with sharp cutting edges are recommended. Good cooling via chip removal remains important to avoid heat build-up and residual stresses in the part. For tight tolerances and thick-walled parts, we recommend intermediate annealing to relieve machining stresses; thanks to the low moisture absorption, no conditioning is required. For components with food contact, we use food-compatible cooling lubricants and supply with batch traceability on request.
3When should I choose PEEK GLD140 FG blue?+
PEEK GLD140 FG blue is used wherever dry-running sliding elements with food contact are exposed to high temperatures – for example in filling, packaging and baking lines and in mechanical engineering for the food industry:
- Plain bearings, bushings and slide strips
- Guide and format parts in filling and packaging lines
- Wear parts in baking and meat processing lines
4What determines the price of a PEEK GLD140 FG blue part?+
PEEK GLD140 FG blue is calculated individually based on drawing or sample. The part price is determined mainly by the semi-finished form and dimensions, material utilisation and offcuts, machining effort and batch size. We are happy to provide binding prices on request.
5When is PEEK GLD140 FG blue not the right choice?+
The limits of the material are equally important:
- Lower strength and elongation at break than unfilled PEEK
- High material cost compared to engineering plastics
- Not resistant to concentrated sulphuric acid and some halogenated hydrocarbons
6Advantages and disadvantages of PEEK GLD140 FG blue+
An honest assessment:
- Advantage: Internal sliding modification, low coefficient of friction, low wear
- Advantage: Compound designed for food contact
- Advantage: Continuous service up to 250 °C, resistant to steam and cleaning agents
- Advantage: Blue colouring for optical detectability
- Disadvantage: Lower strength and elongation at break than unfilled PEEK
- Disadvantage: High material cost compared to engineering plastics
- Disadvantage: Not resistant to concentrated sulphuric acid and some halogenated hydrocarbons
Typical properties
- Internal lubricant modification for reduced friction
- Compound suitable for food contact
- Blue colouring for optical detectability
Typical industries
- Food Industry
- Packaging Industry
- Mechanical Engineering
