1What is Nylon White?+

Nylon White is the unreinforced, natural white base variant of the nylon filament family for 3D printing using the FDM process. Unlike carbon-fibre-filled variants such as Onyx, the focus is on exceptional toughness and elongation at break – printed parts can deform significantly before failing.

2How is Nylon White processed at Liedtke?+

Nylon White is built up additively, layer by layer, from filament using the FDM process. Due to its hygroscopic nature, the filament is dried immediately before processing and protected from moisture during printing to avoid bubbling and layer adhesion issues.

3When should I choose Nylon White?+

Nylon White is a good fit for functional prototypes under impact loading, snap-fit and living-hinge connections, and replacement parts for mechanical engineering – wherever toughness and elongation at break matter more than maximum stiffness, and an economical entry-level material is needed.

4What determines the price of a Nylon White part?+

Part price is mainly determined by part volume, print time, infill density, post-processing effort and batch size. As an unreinforced base material, Nylon White is priced below the fibre-reinforced Onyx variants. We are happy to quote binding prices on request based on your 3D model.

5When is Nylon White not the right choice?+

Where higher stiffness is needed, a fibre-reinforced variant such as Onyx is the better choice. Nylon White is not intended for food contact without separate verification. With a low heat deflection temperature (41 °C), the material is not suitable for continuously warm environments.

6Advantages and disadvantages of Nylon White+

An honest assessment. Advantages: very high elongation at break, exceptionally tough and impact-resistant, good resistance to chemicals, oils and greases, very good surface finish, economical entry-level material. Disadvantages: lower stiffness than fibre-reinforced nylon variants, strongly hygroscopic, low heat deflection temperature (41 °C), filament subject to labelling due to low residual caprolactam monomer content.
