Overview
MF CC 201 is the type designation per EN 60893 for the same product traditionally listed in Germany under the DIN 7735 designation Hgw 2282.5. EN 60893 is the international standard series for laminated sheets based on thermosetting resins, while DIN 7735 is the older, purely German standard for the same material types. Both designations describe technically identical material: a thermoset laminate made of cotton fabric impregnated with melamine resin and pressed under heat and pressure into sheets, round bars or tubes. Because drawings, specifications and tenders use either designation depending on their origin and age, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik deliberately lists this material under both names.
MF CC 201 (Hgw 2282.5) is characterised by the combination of high mechanical strength, very high tracking resistance (CTI 600) and physiological safety. The melamine-resin matrix distinguishes it from phenolic-bonded fabric laminates: it produces the light beige colour instead of the typical brown of phenolic grades and makes the material suitable both for tracking-resistant insulating parts in electrical engineering and for components in food-contact applications.
MF CC 201 is produced by pressing resin-impregnated cotton-fabric layers. From these semi-finished products, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik machines precision parts - sawing, milling, turning and drilling produce clean, dimensionally accurate results with sharp, carbide-tipped tools. Typical applications include electrical and insulation technology, switchgear and equipment construction, drive technology, and machine parts and fixtures in the food industry.
Within Liedtke's range, MF CC 201 complements the glass-fabric-reinforced melamine grade MF GC 201 (Hgw 2272): where MF CC 201's cotton reinforcement makes it physiologically safe and food-contact suitable, MF GC 201's glass-fabric reinforcement provides higher mechanical strength but excludes the food-contact declaration. For permanently damp environments or higher temperatures, glass-fibre-reinforced epoxy grades such as Hgw 2372 are preferable.

Frequently Asked Questions about MF CC 201
1What is MF CC 201?+
MF CC 201 is the EN 60893 designation for a tracking-resistant, physiologically safe fabric laminate made of cotton fabric impregnated with melamine resin. It is exactly the same material that the older German standard DIN 7735 designates as Hgw 2282.5 - both names refer to one and the same material, differing only in the underlying standard. Liedtke Kunststofftechnik therefore lists the material under both designations, so it can be found regardless of which standard your drawing references.
2How does Liedtke machine MF CC 201?+
MF CC 201 machines well. Sawing, milling, turning and drilling produce clean, dimensionally accurate results with sharp, carbide-tipped tools. During machining we ensure adequate dust extraction, since resin and fabric dust is generated. This is how we reliably produce tracking-resistant insulating, machine and food-industry parts - from single pieces to series production.
3What determines the price of an MF CC 201 part?+
The price of a part made from MF CC 201 (Hgw 2282.5) depends mainly on the semi-finished shape (sheet, round bar, tube), dimensions, material utilisation, machining effort and batch size. Melamine fabric laminate is priced above standard phenolic laminates, since the melamine-resin matrix increases both tracking resistance and food-contact suitability. We are happy to quote binding prices on request based on your drawing.
4When is MF CC 201 not the right choice?+
MF CC 201 is only conditionally suitable for permanently damp or wet environments, since the cotton fabric is hygroscopic. It is also not designed for continuous use above about 95 °C, and as a thermoset it cannot be reshaped or welded. For contact with hot or acidic foods, melamine migration should be verified case by case; for purely mechanical, cost-sensitive applications without a need for tracking resistance or food-contact suitability, phenolic fabric laminates are more economical.
