Overview
Dibond is an aluminium composite material (ACM) made of two thin aluminium facing sheets (alloy EN AW-5005A, 0.30 mm each) bonded to a thermoplastic polyethylene core (LDPE, density 0.92 g/cm³). This sandwich construction combines low weight with high flatness and flexural rigidity - at a considerably lower weight per area than a solid aluminium sheet of equal stiffness.
The aluminium facings are factory-coated by coil coating with a weather- and UV-resistant polyester lacquer system (gloss level 30-85%). Dibond can be sawn, milled, drilled, punched, and folded up to 90° using a V-groove routing technique - the latter allows right-angle folds without a visible seam. The standard PE-core grade meets building material class B2 (normal flammability) per DIN 4102-1.
Typical applications include ventilated facade cladding, advertising and display panels, furniture fronts and partition elements, exhibition stands, and signage systems.
