Overview
PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) is a phenolic paper laminate reinforced with cellulose paper. Paper webs are impregnated with a thermoset phenol-formaldehyde resin and pressed under heat and pressure into sheets, rods or tubes. Unlike thermoplastics, the cured thermoset no longer melts but remains dimensionally stable, hard and mechanically resilient. The colour is typically brown.
An important note for material selection: PF CP 201 is the designation under EN 60893, while Hp 2061 is the older designation under DIN 7735 – both refer to technically the same material. Because both standard designations remain in common use, Liedtke Kunststofftechnik lists this material under both names as separate pages, so it can be found under either common search term. Our existing page for Hp 2061 and this page for PF CP 201 therefore describe the same product.
Within the phenolic paper laminate family per DIN 7735 / EN 60893 (PF CP 201 to PF CP 206), PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) represents the economical standard grade (NEMA X/XP) – solid basic mechanical properties and moderate electrical performance at an attractive price, the most widely used grade of the series. Other grades in the family serve more specialised requirements: PF CP 202 (Hp 2061.5) offers the highest dielectric strength in the series at up to 40 kV, PF CP 203 (Hp 2061.6) is hot-punchable with particularly low water absorption, PF CP 204 (Hp 2063) is flame retardant to UL 94 V-0 (known as FR-2, the basis for flame-retardant printed circuit boards), and PF CP 205 (Hp 2062.9) and PF CP 206 (Hp 2062.8) are economical punching grades.
PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) machines well: sawing, milling, drilling and turning can be carried out cleanly and accurately with sharp, carbide-tipped tools; adequate dust extraction should be ensured during machining. Typical applications include insulating and partition parts in low-voltage switchgear engineering, gears and sliding elements in mechanical engineering, jig and fixture components, and general electrical insulation parts without special requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions about PF CP 201 (Hp 2061)
1What is PF CP 201 (Hp 2061)?+
PF CP 201 is the EN 60893 designation for the phenolic paper laminate known under the older DIN 7735 standard as Hp 2061 – technically the same material. It consists of phenolic resin reinforced with cellulose paper and is the economical standard grade (NEMA X/XP) of the phenolic paper laminate family, with good basic mechanical properties and moderate electrical insulation performance.
2How does Liedtke machine PF CP 201 (Hp 2061)?+
We machine PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) from sheets, rods or tubes using sharp, carbide-tipped tools – sawing, milling, drilling and turning are carried out cleanly and accurately. We ensure adequate dust extraction, since fine, fibre-containing resin/paper dust is generated during machining.
3What determines the price of a PF CP 201 part?+
Component price is mainly determined by sheet thickness or rod diameter, dimensions, material utilisation, machining effort and batch size. PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) is the most economical grade in the PF-CP series. We are happy to provide binding prices on request based on your drawing.
4When is PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) not the right choice?+
PF CP 201 (Hp 2061) is not declared suitable for direct food contact. For higher dielectric strength requirements, PF CP 202 (Hp 2061.5) is the better choice; for flame retardancy to UL 94 V-0, PF CP 204 (Hp 2063) is recommended. The material is also unsuitable for continuous use above approximately 120 °C or in damp environments, since the paper reinforcement is hygroscopic.
