What is PA 6 GC natural?
PA 6 GC natural is a special compound based on polyamide 6, processed so that its property profile approaches that of cast PA6 (PA6 G). Compared to standard PA6, PA 6 GC offers markedly higher heat deflection temperature, high wear resistance, and very good machinability.

PA 6 GC natural in detail
1What is PA 6 GC natural?+
PA 6 GC natural is a special compound based on polyamide 6, processed so that its property profile approaches that of cast PA6 (PA6 G). Compared to standard PA6, PA 6 GC offers markedly higher heat deflection temperature, high wear resistance, and very good machinability. PA 6 is a semi-crystalline engineering thermoplastic with high toughness, good abrasion and wear resistance, and good sliding properties. The special GC compound improves heat deflection temperature compared to standard PA6 and brings the property profile closer to cast PA6 (PA6 G). Like all polyamides, PA 6 GC absorbs moisture from the environment; this makes the material tougher and more impact-resistant, while stiffness and dimensional stability decrease somewhat.
2How does Liedtke machine PA 6 GC natural?+
PA 6 GC natural can be machined like standard PA6 using all conventional cutting methods; HSS or carbide tools are sufficient. Good cooling via chip removal remains important to avoid softening or smearing of the surface caused by heat build-up. For tight tolerances, we take swelling and shrinkage behaviour into account and condition the semi-finished product where required.
3When should I choose PA 6 GC natural?+
PA 6 GC natural is used wherever wear-resistant, mechanically loaded components with increased heat deflection temperature are required:
- Wear-resistant guide and sliding elements
- Components under increased thermal load
- Gears and mechanically stressed moulded parts
- Semi-finished products for close-tolerance machining
4What determines the price of a PA 6 GC natural part?+
PA 6 GC natural is calculated individually based on drawing or sample. The part price is mainly determined by the stock form and dimension, material utilisation (waste), machining effort and batch size. We are happy to quote binding prices on request.
5When is PA 6 GC natural not the right choice?+
Just as important are the limits of the material:
- Moisture absorption of up to 3 % in standard atmosphere, causing dimensional and property changes
- Not resistant to strong acids and permanently hot water (hydrolysis)
- Not generally declared for food contact (see FDA declaration)
6Advantages and disadvantages of PA 6 GC natural+
An honest assessment:
- Advantage: Improved heat deflection temperature compared to standard PA6
- Advantage: Property profile close to cast PA6 (PA6 G)
- Advantage: High wear resistance
- Advantage: Very good machinability
- Disadvantage: Moisture absorption of up to 3 % in standard atmosphere, causing dimensional and property changes
