What is PA 6 G HS blue?
PA 6 G HS blue is a cast polyamide 6 coloured blue (similar to RAL 5015) with a special heat stabilisation. The additivation significantly increases thermo-oxidative resistance, while retaining the high stiffness and very good machinability of the PA6 G base material. The colouring is additionally UV-resistant.

PA 6 G HS blue in detail
1What is PA 6 G HS blue?+
PA 6 G HS blue is a cast polyamide 6 coloured blue (similar to RAL 5015) with a special heat stabilisation. The additivation significantly increases thermo-oxidative resistance, while retaining the high stiffness and very good machinability of the PA6 G base material. The colouring is additionally UV-resistant. PA 6 G is a cast, semi-crystalline polyamide with high stiffness, good toughness, and good machinability. The heat stabilisation additionally improves resistance to thermo-oxidative ageing at elevated service temperatures, without significantly altering the basic mechanical properties of the PA6 G. Like all polyamides, PA 6 G HS blue absorbs moisture from the environment; this makes the material tougher and more impact-resistant, while stiffness and dimensional stability decrease somewhat.
2How does Liedtke machine PA 6 G HS blue?+
PA 6 G HS blue can be machined like standard PA6 G using all conventional cutting methods; HSS or carbide tools are sufficient. Good cooling via chip removal remains important to avoid softening or smearing of the surface caused by heat build-up. For tight tolerances, we take swelling and shrinkage behaviour into account and condition the semi-finished product where required.
3When should I choose PA 6 G HS blue?+
PA 6 G HS blue is used wherever PA6 G must remain thermally stable over extended periods at elevated service temperatures and a UV-resistant blue colour is desired, for example in mechanical engineering and conveyor technology:
- Components for elevated continuous service temperatures
- Bearing and guide elements
- Conveyor technology components
4What determines the price of a PA 6 G HS blue part?+
PA 6 G HS blue is calculated individually based on drawing or sample. The part price is mainly determined by the stock form and dimension, material utilisation (waste), machining effort and batch size. We are happy to quote binding prices on request.
5When is PA 6 G HS blue not the right choice?+
Just as important are the limits of the material:
- Moisture absorption of up to 2.5 % in standard atmosphere, causing dimensional and property changes
- Not resistant to strong acids and permanently hot water (hydrolysis)
- Not generally declared for food contact (see FDA declaration)
6Advantages and disadvantages of PA 6 G HS blue+
An honest assessment:
- Advantage: Heat-stabilised for increased thermo-oxidative resistance
- Advantage: High stiffness of the PA6 G base material
- Advantage: Very good machinability
- Advantage: Blue coloured and UV-resistant for easy visual identification
- Disadvantage: Moisture absorption of up to 2.5 % in standard atmosphere, causing dimensional and property changes
- Disadvantage: Not resistant to strong acids and permanently hot water (hydrolysis)
- Disadvantage: Not generally declared for food contact (see FDA declaration)
Typical properties
- Heat-stabilised
- High rigidity
- Blue coloured, UV-resistant
Typical industries
- Mechanical Engineering
- Conveyor Technology
